# What tariffs work best with the ZEB?

## ZEB charges during off-peak hours for low-carbon heating. Control tariffs and smart charging in the tepeo App.

The ZEB works best with a time-of-use tariff, where the ZEB has access to at least 4-5 hours of off-peak electricity each day. These tariffs have at least two different unit rates for electricity: an off-peak period(s) charged at a lower rate and a peak period charged at a higher rate. Off-peak periods tend to happen mostly overnight and/or when there is excess renewable generation on the grid. Once you set your tariff in the App, the ZEB will know when it is best to charge.
