Update or change network connection
How to update or change the network that the ZEB is connected to.
If you wish to change your network connection, you can do so via the ‘ZEB settings’ in the main menu bar of the tepeo App.
Your ZEB is designed to work solely on the 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi band so you'll need to ensure your broadband router and mobile smart device are both connected to the 2.4 GHz band during setup.
It differs for each router how to find out what GHz it is on so refer to the manufacturers guidance on this or contact tepeo Support for help.
1. Verify 2.4 GHz is Enabled- Check your router settings to ensure the 2.4 GHz band is active and not disabled.
2. Separate 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz Networks (Recommended):
- Many routers allow you to create separate network names (SSIDs) for each band.
- Configure your router to assign a unique name to the 2.4 GHz band (e.g., "my-wifi-2.4").
- During setup, connect your smartphone to the 2.4 GHz network with the corresponding SSID
- If separating bands isn't possible, you can disable the 5 GHz band temporarily while setting up your smart device.
- During the setup process for your ZEB, make sure both your smartphone and the ZEB are connected to the same 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network.
- Once your ZEB is connected, you can re-enable the 5 GHz band and return to your regular Wi-Fi network.
Once the above has been checked, follow these steps to update your network:
1. Click on ‘Update Network’ settings in the left hand side menu bar.
2. Follow the App prompts to enable Bluetooth and proceed with ZEB pairing via Bluetooth.
3. Once paired, choose the desired network setup:
○ Wireless connection - Wi-Fi.
○ Wired connection for Ethernet.
4. Follow the App prompts to complete setup.
5. You can check that your connection has updated via the ‘Status’ tab on the home screen, when you scroll to the bottom of the page.
After changing network connection, please ensure that Wi-Fi strength is at the optimal level (‘Excellent’ or ‘Good’).
