Update or change network connection
How to update or change the network that the ZEB is connected to.
If you wish to change your network connection, you can do so via ZEB Settings in the main menu of the tepeo app.
Wi-Fi Requirements
Your ZEB is designed to work only on the 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi band. During setup, both your broadband router and your mobile device must be connected to the 2.4 GHz network.
The steps to check or change Wi-Fi bands vary by router, so please refer to your router manufacturer’s guidance. If you need help, contact tepeo Support.
Preparing Your Network
1. Verify that 2.4 GHz is enabled
Check your router settings to ensure the 2.4 GHz band is active and not disabled.
2. Separate 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz networks (recommended)
Many routers let you assign separate network names (SSIDs) to each band. This ensures your ZEB connects to the correct 2.4 GHz network during setup.
-
Assign a unique name to the 2.4 GHz network (for example, my-wifi-2.4).
-
During setup, connect your smartphone to the 2.4 GHz network.
If separating bands isn’t possible, you can temporarily disable the 5 GHz band while setting up your ZEB.
3. Connect during setup
Ensure that both your smartphone and the ZEB are connected to the same 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network.
4. Switch back after setup
Once your ZEB is connected, you can re-enable the 5 GHz band and reconnect your devices to your usual Wi-Fi network.
Updating Your Network in the tepeo App
Once the above checks are complete, follow these steps:
-
Select Update Network from the left-hand menu.
-
Follow the app prompts to enable Bluetooth and pair with your ZEB.
-
Choose your preferred connection method:
-
Wireless – WiFi 2.4Ghz
-
Wired – Ethernet
-
-
Follow the app prompts to complete the setup.
-
To confirm the update, open the Status tab on the home screen and scroll to the bottom.
After changing your network connection, check that the Wi-Fi signal strength shows Excellent or Good.
