Troubleshoot cold radiators by checking ZEB status

Why are my radiators cold when I expect heating?

Cold radiators during an expected heating period are usually caused by the ZEB not discharging, a thermostat or programmer not calling for heat, or closed thermostatic radiator valves (TRVs). Work through the steps below in order to identify and resolve the issue.

  1. Check whether the ZEB is discharging heat by looking at the Comms Box (the Discharging LED should be illuminated) or the tepeo App Home screen (the ZEB Status should show Discharging).
  2. Ensure your thermostat is turned up and your programmer is set to call for heat.
  3. If your radiators have thermostatic radiator valves (TRVs), make sure they are fully open.

If the Discharging LED is on and the issue persists, carry out the following checks if you are confident doing so:

  1. Bleed your radiators to release any trapped air.
  2. Check that your central heating system pressure is within the correct range (typically between 1 and 1.5 bar when the system is cold — consult your boiler or system documentation for the recommended range for your installation).
