How efficient is the ZEB?

ZEB installation position affect it's efficiency,  works best with a separate hot water solution, and emits minor heat while charging.

When installed within the heated envelope of the home, the ZEB is treated as 100% efficient at converting electricity into useful heat for EPC purposes, as all of its electricity consumption is delivered as heat to the property. Installation in garages or other unheated spaces is not recommended, as this can increase standing losses and reduce the effective capacity.

To optimise overall system performance, we recommend using an immersion heater with a timer, or another dedicated hot water solution, for domestic hot water rather than relying on the ZEB for water heating, particularly during the summer months.

It is also worth noting that the ZEB becomes slightly warm while charging. Its surface temperature remains lower than that of a typical radiator, but minor standing losses will gently warm the surrounding area.
