How does the ZEB work?
Discover the ZEB, a low-carbon heat battery that stores electricity as heat and delivers it on demand. Smart Charging optimises energy use, saving costs and reducing carbon emissions.
The ZEB is an innovative low-carbon alternative to a fossil fuel boiler. However, as a heat battery, it operates slightly differently from a traditional boiler.
Similar to how a phone battery uses electricity to charge and then draws on that stored energy when needed, the ZEB uses electricity to store energy as heat. This stored heat is then available on demand to warm your home.
Using a Smart Charging algorithm, the ZEB intelligently stores the appropriate amount of heat based on your household’s needs, the weather, and your electricity tariff. It primarily charges during off-peak periods (such as overnight) to help minimise electricity costs, with additional charging during the day if required.
The length of time a full charge lasts will vary depending on property size, heating usage, and weather conditions.
