How do you estimate the carbon savings in the App?

The estimated carbon intensity is based on regional grid data and assumes all electricity comes from the grid.

The estimated carbon intensity is based on the average level of carbon emissions associated with the electricity supplied by the local distribution network. It assumes that all of the electricity you use is imported from the main grid and does not consider any contribution from on-site generation, such as solar panels.

As a result, this estimate reflects typical regional grid conditions rather than your actual energy mix. If you generate some of your own electricity, the calculation may overstate your true carbon footprint, since it does not take into account the reduced reliance on grid power or the lower emissions associated with renewable energy sources.
